Books not Bombs was the result my extreme admiration for the book Three Cups of Tea and its sequel Stones into Schools, both of which explicitly show the impact one man with a lot of determination can have. Greg Mortenson is working to change the world, and his mission, bringing education to children, is one I wholeheartedly support. I chose this essay because it reflects my values, as well as showcases that when I choose to speak out about an issue, I do so only armed with all of the facts, examples, and logic available. I pick my battles, and I show up mentally armed to fight them.
